We believe that there are many things out there that turn people away from cycling or make the experience of riding difficult and unpleasant. We call these things barriers!

Some barriers are big, complex things such as not having enough political backing for cycling, and some are more simple things, like always getting oil on your trousers. No matter how big or small, all barriers to cycling are common in the way they disrupt the experience of cycling.

Many barriers to cycling relate to human traits, and are intrinsically linked to cultures, behaviours, feelings and our daily routines.


Think about what stops you from cycling or makes you wish you were not on a bike from time to time. Whether you’re turned away everyday, or just sometimes, we all have barriers to cycling and we’re curious to know what these are!
